Totes les crisis colpegen els m\u00e9s vulnerables: els pobres, els treballadors, i entre ells \u2014com ja hem viscut tots i totes\u2014 les crisis tenen com a imatge el rostre d\u2019una dona. Ella Gericke \u00e9s una d\u2019elles. Queda v\u00eddua despr\u00e9s d\u2019un any de matrimoni i, sense feina ni mitjans de subsist\u00e8ncia, es veu obligada a adoptar la identitat del seu marit, Max Gericke, i a substituir-lo a la f\u00e0brica com a operador de toro mec\u00e0nic.<\/p>\r\n

Aix\u00ed, disfressada d\u2019home, viur\u00e0 l\u2019ascens al poder de Hitler i els desastres de la guerra.
La fi del conflicte b\u00e8l\u00b7lic alleuja certes dificultats, per\u00f2 no l\u2019allibera ni de l\u2019atur ni de la fam. Ella\/Max Gericke recorda alguns moments del seu dur trajecte, que va viure amb energia i esperit de superaci\u00f3, com una supervivent extraordin\u00e0ria, tal com solen fer les dones.
Aquesta hist\u00f2ria real d\u2019Ella Gericke no nom\u00e9s va inspirar Brecht, que la va immortalitzar en una de les seves novel\u00b7les, sin\u00f3 que tamb\u00e9 fou la font d\u2019inspiraci\u00f3 de Manfred Karge, qui es va encarregar de rescatar-la per al teatre a trav\u00e9s d\u2019aquest mon\u00f2leg fragmentat titulat Jacke wie Hose.
